The eddy current sensor is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It generates an alternating magnetic field through a coil. When approaching a conductive object, the magnetic field will induce eddy currents on the object's surface. The reverse magnetic field produced by the eddy currents will change the impedance of the coil.
